Code Ann. § 39-65-10","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) \"Commissions\" means compensation accruing to a sales representative for payment by a principal, the rate of which is expressed as a percentage of the amount of orders or sales or as a specified amount of each order or sale.\n(2) \"Person\" means an individual, corporation, partnership, association, estate, or trust.\n(3) \"Principal\" means a person who:\n(a) manufactures, produces, imports, or distributes a tangible product for wholesale;\n(b) contracts with a sales representative to solicit orders for the product; and\n(c) compensates the sales representative, in whole or in part, by commission.\n(4) \"Sales representative\" means a person who:\n(a) contracts with a principal to solicit wholesale orders;\n(b) is compensated, in whole or in part, by commission;\n(c) does not place orders or purchase for his own account or for resale; and\n(d) does not sell or take orders for the sale of products to the ultimate consumer.","path":["Title 39 - TRADE AND COMMERCE","CHAPTER 65 Payment of Post-Termination Claims to Sales Representatives"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t39c065.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:19:19Z","sha256":"2bf7634151f7ff222775870d4adcb91914ff14ca41246097a247a86e253f1270","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-39-63-20","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-39-65-20"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
