Code Ann. § 4-9-1220","heading":"Electors may petition for repeal of certain ordinances.","body":"Within sixty days after the enactment by the council of any ordinance authorizing the issuance of bonds, notes or other evidence of debt the repayment of which requires a pledge of the full faith and credit of the county, or requires the approval of the issuance of bonds by a public service district within the county a petition signed by qualified electors of the county equal in number to at least fifteen percent of the qualified electors of the county, or if such ordinance relates to a bond issue for a public service district, fifteen percent of the qualified electors of the district may be filed with the clerk of the county council requesting that any such ordinance be repealed; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to bond issues approved by referendum or to notes issued in anticipation of taxes.","path":["Title 4 - COUNTIES","CHAPTER 9 County Government","ARTICLE 13 Initiative and Referendum"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t04c009.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T06:20:49Z","sha256":"0ce47ec9ca70edd3e15aa5805cc8d738446ec5f5ba7222262d9ba02517501ca7","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-4-9-1210","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-4-9-1230"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
