Code Ann. § 40-15-520","heading":"Patient with relationship required before providing services.","body":"Except as otherwise provided in this section, a licensee must establish a bona fide relationship with a patient before providing services to a patient through teledentistry. A bona fide relationship between a patient and a licensee shall only exist if the licensee has:\n(1) reviewed the patient's relevant history, medical records, diagnostic records, and, if treatment is for the correction of a malposition of teeth, the patient's current radiographic records;\n(2) performed an appropriate, in-person, physical examination of the patient for the purpose of diagnosing, assessing, developing a treatment plan, or determining the patient's current medical or dental condition; and\n(3) a reasonable expectation that the licensee will provide in-person follow-up care and treatment to the patient on a regular basis.","path":["Title 40 - PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS","CHAPTER 15 Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Dental Technicians","ARTICLE 5 Teledentistry"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t40c015.php","current_through":"2026 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-10-25T03:53:50Z","sha256":"b7d874c0e7ffe57df4c46f3ad71c6d43fe4ac25a1724582a2e72c7a3fe8faaf9","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-40-15-510","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-40-15-530"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
