Code Ann. § 40-45-290","heading":"Physical therapy aides; permissible duties; restrictions.","body":"(A) A physical therapy aide may provide departmental support to the on-site physical therapist and physical therapist assistant in the following areas subject to guidelines established in regulations:\n(1) transporting patients;\n(2) preparing, cleaning, and maintaining the treatment area and equipment;\n(3) preparing patients for treatment;\n(4) attending to the personal needs of patients during treatment sessions;\n(5) clerical and housekeeping activities.\n(B) A physical therapy aide may not perform:\n(1) an activity which requires licensure under this chapter;\n(2) an activity which requires the exercise of the professional judgment of a physical therapist;\n(3) the interpretation of referrals, screenings, assessments, evaluations, or reassessments;\n(4) the development or modification of treatment plans or discharge plans.","path":["Title 40 - PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS","CHAPTER 45 Physical Therapists","ARTICLE 1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t40c045.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:22:49Z","sha256":"20c29fb81551fa3e4558a9db72f125890bb82d5c62e30f42ad26f81a271f3640","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-40-45-280","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-40-45-300"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
