Code Ann. § 43-31-170","heading":"Training and experience requirements for counselors.","body":"A counselor for the state agency of Vocational Rehabilitation shall have:\n(1) a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling;\n(2) a Master's degree in the field of counseling with a graduate course in theories and techniques of counseling; or\n(3) a Master's degree in any discipline and at least eighteen documented hours of coursework at the Master's level or above within thirty months of the date of hire including:\n(a) one graduate course with a primary focus on the theories and techniques of counseling;\n(b) three graduate courses, each with a primary focus on one of the following areas:\n(i) occupational information;\n(ii) job development and placement;\n(iii) medical aspects of disabilities;\n(iv) foundations of rehabilitation;\n(v) psychological aspects of disabilities;\n(vi) personal and vocational adjustment; and\n(c) two graduate courses, each with a primary focus on one of the following areas:\n(i) assessment;\n(ii) research methodology;\n(iii) vocational and career development;\n(iv) community resources;\n(v) case management;\n(vi) delivery of rehabilitation services; or\n(4) a current Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certificate, regardless of degree.","path":["Title 43 - SOCIAL SERVICES","CHAPTER 31 Vocational Rehabilitation"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t43c031.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:29:09Z","sha256":"461078ff391760e04544938783d4fe0ccb7c2304aa2ab95de80d77297b868b0b","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-43-31-160","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-43-33-10"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
