Code Ann. § 44-61-100","heading":"Exemptions.","body":"The following are exempted from the provisions of this article:\n(A) ambulances owned and operated by the Federal Government;\n(B) a vehicle or vehicles, including associated personnel, rendering assistance to community ambulances in the case of a catastrophe when licensed ambulances in the locality are insufficient to render the required services;\n(C) the use of a privately or publicly owned vehicle, not ordinarily utilized in the transportation of persons who are sick, injured, or otherwise incapacitated and operating pursuant to Section 15-1-310 (Good Samaritan Act) in the prevention of loss of life and alleviation of suffering;\n(D) the use of out-of-state ambulance services and personnel to assist with treatment and transport of patients during a disaster or catastrophe when licensed services in the locality are insufficient to render the required services.","path":["Title 44 - HEALTH","CHAPTER 61 Emergency Medical Services","ARTICLE 1 Emergency Medical Services"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t44c061.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:33:59Z","sha256":"ac998cd35cfb08d9f68f0d43532efc111faf645053d65759ce4801fa1df164a4","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-44-61-90","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-44-61-110"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
