Code Ann. § 48-18-50","heading":"State Advisory Council on erosion and sediment reduction; membership; duties.","body":"(1) A state Advisory Council on Erosion and Sediment Reduction (State Advisory Council), which may include, but not be limited to, a representative of each of the following, must be appointed by the Governor upon the advice of the following agencies and organizations:\nSouth Carolina Association of Counties\nSouth Carolina Municipal Association\nSouth Carolina Association of Conservation Districts\nSouth Carolina Home Builders Association\nAssociated General Contractors, Inc.\nSouth Carolina Association of Realtors\nSouth Carolina Chapter, American Society of Landscape Architects\nSouth Carolina Chapter, American Society of Civil Engineers\nCouncil of Governments Executive Director's Committee\nSouth Carolina Farm Bureau\nSouth Carolina State Grange\nOffice of the Governor\nUSDA-Soil Conservation Service\nClemson University\nSouth Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control\nSouth Carolina Forestry Commission\nSouth Carolina Forestry Association\nSouth Carolina Chapter\nAmerican Institute of Architects\n(2) The department must provide staff support to the State Advisory Council.\n(3) Duties of the State Advisory Council include, but are not limited to the following:\n(a) Study the erosion and sediment reduction and stormwater management programs of other states and evaluate their applicability to South Carolina.\n(b) Evaluate erosion, sedimentation, and stormwater conditions in the State.\n(c) Recommend improvements and changes to meet the needs for erosion and sediment reduction and stormwater management in the State.\n(d) Assist the department with educational programs including, but not limited to, seminars, conferences, workshops, media productions, and written publication.\n(e) Compile information pertaining to sedimentation of water bodies in the State.\n(f) Evaluate and recommend conservation programs and technology for reducing erosion and sedimentation and improving stormwater management.\n(g) Evaluate the need for additional legislation for erosion and sediment reduction and stormwater management.\n(h) Recommend appropriate recognition programs for landowners and land users implementing outstanding erosion and sediment reduction and stormwater management programs.\n(i) Provide information to the department as needed.","path":["Title 48 - ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION","CHAPTER 18 Erosion and Sediment Reduction Act of 1983"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t48c018.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:42:39Z","sha256":"6071383f895816bbbbe16ffd9c249fea85cd44bd4cc32802e9d16c4cb5e2e3d1","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-48-18-40","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-48-18-60"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
