Code Ann. § 56-1-205","heading":"Hearing impaired designations on driver's licenses.","body":"An applicant for the issuance or renewal of a driver's license may request that a notation be placed on the license indicating that the applicant is hearing impaired.\nThe department shall place the notation on the driver's license if requested by the applicant and if the applicant provides an original certificate from a licensed physician, as defined in Section 40-47-5, that the applicant has a permanent, uncorrectable hearing loss of forty decibels or more in one or both ears.\nThis section shall apply to a driver's license issued after 2012.","path":["Title 56 - MOTOR VEHICLES","CHAPTER 1 Driver's License","ARTICLE 1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t56c001.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:52:19Z","sha256":"ea492f433735d1df34558f8576f330f5cddf0dadb0153d1222ca35c74a1ebc2a","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-56-1-200","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-56-1-210"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
