Code Ann. § 56-1-2090","heading":"Application; change of licensee's name or address; penalties for falsifying information.","body":"(A) The application for a commercial driver license or commercial driver instruction permit must include:\n(1) the full name and both the current mailing and residential address of the person;\n(2) a physical description of the person including sex, height, and weight;\n(3) date of birth;\n(4) the applicant's Social Security number;\n(5) the person's signature;\n(6) the person's consent to be photographed;\n(7) certifications including those required by 49 C.F.R. part 383.71(a);\n(8) any other information required by the Department of Motor Vehicles;\n(9) a consent to release driving record information; and\n(10) a nonrefundable application fee of fifteen dollars, except for public school bus drivers.\n(B) When the holder of a commercial driver license changes his name, mailing address, or residence, an application for a renewal license must be made as provided in Section 56-1-230.\n(C) No person who has been a resident of this State for thirty days or longer may drive a commercial motor vehicle under the authority of a commercial driver license or commercial driver instruction permit issued by another state.\n(D) A person who knowingly falsifies information or certifications required under subsection (A) of this section is subject to cancellation of his commercial driver license and may not obtain a commercial driver license or commercial driver instruction permit for at least sixty consecutive days after the time he otherwise would be eligible for a commercial driver license or commercial driver instruction permit.\n(E) The fees collected pursuant to this section must be credited to the Department of Transportation State Non-Federal Aid Highway Fund as provided in the following schedule based on the actual date of receipt by the Department of Motor Vehicles:\nFees and Penalties\tGeneral Fund\tDepartment of\nCollected After\tof the State\tTransportation\nState Non-Federal Aid\nHighway Fund\nJune 30, 2005\t60 percent\t40 percent\nJune 30, 2006\t20 percent\t80 percent\nJune 30, 2007\t0 percent\t100 percent.","path":["Title 56 - MOTOR VEHICLES","CHAPTER 1 Driver's License","ARTICLE 13 South Carolina Commercial Driver License Act"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t56c001.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:52:19Z","sha256":"222a87059d5d8fd2be89821ed6807fa7b78fe31b4bcbac3d1e1117774c796705","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-56-1-2085","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-56-1-2100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
