Code Ann. § 56-3-1330","heading":"Suspension, cancellation, or revocation of cards, and plates.","body":"The Department of Motor Vehicles may suspend, cancel, or revoke the registration and license of a vehicle, or the registration card, license plate, revalidation sticker, or other document issued by the department as authorized under this chapter in any of the following events when the:\n(1) department determines to its satisfaction that such registration and license, registration card, license plate, revalidation sticker, or other document was fraudulently or erroneously issued;\n(2) department determines to its satisfaction that a registered and licensed vehicle is mechanically unsafe or unfit to be operated or moved upon a highway;\n(3) vehicle registered and licensed has been dismantled or wrecked;\n(4) department determines that the required fee has not been paid and is not paid upon reasonable notice and demand;\n(5) registration card, license plate, revalidation sticker, or other document is knowingly displayed upon a vehicle other than the one for which it was issued;\n(6) department determines to its satisfaction that the owner has committed any offense under this chapter involving such registration card, license plate, revalidation sticker, or other document;\n(7) department is so authorized under any other provisions of law.","path":["Title 56 - MOTOR VEHICLES","CHAPTER 3 Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing","ARTICLE 9 License Plates and Registration Cards Generally"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t56c003.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:52:29Z","sha256":"1eff3362cdc5fade1c306a341d1aed0bc3bd5a2a9f67f8f8105a9a719fafc24d","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-56-3-1320","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-56-3-1335"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
