Code Ann. § 56-5-4790","heading":"Single-beam road-lighting equipment.","body":"Head lamps arranged to provide a single distribution of light not supplemented by auxiliary driving lamps shall be permitted on motor vehicles manufactured and sold prior to April 29, 1939 in lieu of multiple-beam road-lighting equipment herein specified, if the single distribution of light complies with the following requirements and limitations:\n(1) The head lamps shall be so aimed that when the vehicle is not loaded none of the high-intensity portion of the light shall at a distance of twenty-five feet ahead project higher than a level of five inches below the level of the center of the lamp from which it comes and in no case higher than forty-two inches above the level on which the vehicle stands at a distance of seventy-five feet ahead; and\n(2) The intensity shall be sufficient to reveal persons and vehicles at a distance of at least two hundred feet.","path":["Title 56 - MOTOR VEHICLES","CHAPTER 5 Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways","ARTICLE 35 Equipment and Identification"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t56c005.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:52:34Z","sha256":"38aab4fb7439b7c7274c403e678466933995a5a05d9c8a03e3367a1f38a656f5","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-56-5-4780","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-56-5-4800"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
