Code Ann. § 59-63-120","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this article:\n(1) \"Harassment, intimidation, or bullying\" means a gesture, an electronic communication, or a written, verbal, physical, or sexual act that is reasonably perceived to have the effect of:\n(a) harming a student physically or emotionally or damaging a student's property, or placing a student in reasonable fear of personal harm or property damage; or\n(b) insulting or demeaning a student or group of students causing substantial disruption in, or substantial interference with, the orderly operation of the school.\n(2) \"School\" means in a classroom, on school premises, on a school bus or other school-related vehicle, at an official school bus stop, at a school-sponsored activity or event whether or not it is held on school premises, or at another program or function where the school is responsible for the child.","path":["Title 59 - EDUCATION","CHAPTER 63 Pupils Generally","ARTICLE 2 Safe School Climate Act"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t59c063.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T08:02:14Z","sha256":"79af5a11515b03bf6fc0bccc4cd29775107259988d65d5721c55c12c76c62266","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-59-63-110","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-59-63-130"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
