Code Ann. § 8-13-1356","heading":"Economic interests statements, filing deadlines for particular candidates.","body":"(A) A person who becomes a candidate by filing a statement of intention of candidacy seeking nomination by political party primary or political party convention must electronically file a statement of economic interests for the preceding calendar year pursuant to Section 8-13-365 prior to the close of filing for the particular office.\n(B) A person who becomes a candidate by filing a petition for nomination must electronically file a statement of economic interests for the preceding calendar year pursuant to Section 8-13-365 within fifteen days of submitting the petition pursuant to Section 7-11-70 or 7-11-71.\n(C) A person who becomes a write-in candidate must electronically file a statement of economic interests for the preceding calendar year within twenty-four hours of filing an initial campaign finance report pursuant to Section 8-13-1308(A) or before taking the oath of office, whichever occurs earlier.\n(D) A candidate who is not a public official otherwise filing a statement has the same disclosure requirements as a public official with the exception of reporting gifts.\n(E) The appropriate supervisory office shall assess a civil penalty pursuant to Section 8-13-1510 against a candidate who fails to timely file a statement of economic interests as required by this section.","path":["Title 8 - PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES","CHAPTER 13 Ethics, Government Accountability, and Campaign Reform","ARTICLE 13 Campaign Practices"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t08c013.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T06:28:14Z","sha256":"8ee5d013d8bec818c847994fc2b865befda2cbe57e9a5864113d953e92249dc5","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-8-13-1354","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-8-13-1358"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
