No person may purchase or otherwise acquire or bring into this state a motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer except for temporary use not to exceed a period of ninety days, unless he has obtained a certificate of title for the motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer in his name as in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
