{"data":{"id":"us-sd/sdcl-7-9a-1","jurisdiction":"us-sd","citation":"SDCL § 7-9A-1","heading":"Definitions.","body":"Terms used in this chapter mean:\n(1) \"Document,\" any information that is:\n(a) Inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in perceivable form; and\n(b) Eligible to be recorded in the public records maintained by the register of deeds;\n(2) \"Electronic,\" relating to technology having electrical, digital, magnetic, wireless, optical, electromagnetic, or similar capabilities;\n(3) \"Electronic document,\" a document that is received by the register of deeds in an electronic form;\n(4) \"Electronic recording commission\" and \"commission,\" the commission established in § 7-9A-4;\n(5) \"Electronic signature,\" an electronic sound, symbol, or process attached to or logically associated with a document and executed or adopted by a person with the intent of affixing a signature on the document;\n(6) \"Paper document,\" a document that is received by the register of deeds in a form that is not electronic;\n(7) \"Person,\" an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, joint venture, public corporation, government, or governmental subdivision, agency, or instrumentality, or any other legal or commercial entity;\n(8) \"Register of deeds,\" the county register of deeds for the county in which a document is received;\n(9) \"State,\" a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, or any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.","path":["TITLE 7.
