Code Ann. § 26-2-407","heading":"Motion to quash execution or garnishment","body":"A judgment debtor may assert exemption rights after the service of an execution or garnishment by filing a motion to quash the garnishment or execution. The motion to quash must be filed within the following time periods:\n(1) Twenty (20) days from the mailing of the notice required by § 26-2-404 in the event of a levy of execution;\n(2) Twenty (20) days from the withholding of wages by a garnishee/employer pursuant to a wage garnishment; and\n(3) With respect to any other garnishment, twenty (20) days from the mailing of the notice required by § 26-2-404 pursuant to that garnishment.","path":["TN Code","Title 26","Chapter 2"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"83c2759a100ae577b4002c77e3cada538e607532b86e24cc0acd3fc5c9a5f7cf","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-26-2-406","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-26-2-408"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
