Code Ann. § 36-2-302","heading":"Chapter definitions","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Child born out of wedlock\" means a child born to parents who are not married to each other when the child was born;\n(2) \"Court\" means the juvenile court or any trial court with general jurisdiction;\n(3) \"Father\" means the biological father of a child born out of wedlock;\n(4) \"Mother\" means the biological mother of a child born out of wedlock;\n(5) \"Parent\" means the biological mother or biological father of a child, regardless of the marital status of the mother and father; and\n(6) \"Father,\" \"mother,\" and \"parent\" do not include a biological parent whose parental rights have been terminated for a child whose parentage is at issue.","path":["TN Code","Title 36","Chapter 2"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"65605d25d897e778620483c1c48c797a7851900fcf3c313376fa76f273076168","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-36-2-301","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-36-2-303"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
