Code Ann. § 37-5-404","heading":"Consent to take child out of state","body":"(a) No child shall be taken or sent out of the state for the purpose of placing the child in a foster home or in a child-caring institution without first obtaining the written consent of the department of human services.\n(b) All out-of-state placements shall be cleared with the proper authorities of the receiving state by the department.\n(c) The foster home or child-caring institution in which the child is placed shall report to the department at such times and through such agency and in such form as the department may direct as to the location and well-being of such child.\n(d) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor.","path":["TN Code","Title 37","Chapter 5"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"721d1d66f34ba359b90d30f6c3973b594f27f9e2cf0e27ee8fe7e72f5760c72b","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-37-5-403","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-37-5-405"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
