Code Ann. § 4-3-5525","heading":"Part definitions","body":"As used in this part, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Local government\" means any county, municipality, city or other political subdivision of this state, including any school districts or school systems created thereby;\n(2) \"Private agency\" means an accredited nonpublic school or a nonprofit institution of higher education eligible for tuition grants;\n(3) \"Public agency\" means a state agency, local government, an institution under the control of the University of Tennessee or the Tennessee board of regents, the judicial department, the legislative department, a special school district or any other local public school system or school district created or authorized by the general assembly, a public library operated by any unit or agency of local or state government, a museum owned or operated by the state or any political subdivision of the state, or an agency or instrumentality of the federal government; and\n(4) \"State communications\" refers to the transmission of voice, data, video, the written word or other visual signals by electronic means but does not include broadcast radio and television facilities.","path":["TN Code","Title 4","Chapter 3"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"3021d4eb4a30470cffe8eef24adad6a00aa4e59ca09e867938f38d776f1559a0","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-4-3-5509","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-4-3-601"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
