Code Ann. § 40-28-102","heading":"Chapter definitions","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Board\" means the board of parole;\n(2) \"Commissioner\" means the commissioner of correction;\n(3) \"Department\" means the department of correction;\n(4) \"Executive director\" means the officer employed by the board as the chief administrative officer of the agency;\n(5) \"Notification,\" as used in this part, may include telephone, facsimile and internet communications;\n(6) \"Parole\" means the release of a prisoner to the community by the board prior to the expiration of the prisoner's term subject to conditions imposed by the board and to supervision by the department, or when a court or other authority has issued a warrant against the prisoner and the board, in its discretion, has released the prisoner to answer the warrant of the court or authority; and\n(7) \"Probation and parole officer\" means a probation and parole officer employed by the department.","path":["TN Code","Title 40","Chapter 28"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"2bcdd5fd5f196325ca4e108ad6e9d3f2f88eea8365e3c4a16ade1762cc56cac4","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-40-28-101","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-40-28-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
