Code Ann. § 41-2-109","heading":"Care of prisoners","body":"It is the duty of the superintendent to:\n(1) Discharge each prisoner as soon as the prisoner's time is out, or upon order of the board of commissioners;\n(2) See that the prisoners are properly guarded to prevent escape;\n(3) See that they are kindly and humanely treated, and properly provided with clothing, wholesome food properly cooked and prepared for eating three (3) times a day when at work;\n(4) See that they are warmly and comfortably housed at night and in bad weather;\n(5) See that when sick they have proper medicine and medical treatment, and, in case of death, are decently buried; and\n(6) Keep the males separate from the females.","path":["TN Code","Title 41","Chapter 2"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"0ce10a84d74a8cc75a7c352f0192d11ba41888c9cd36ec924b4b772ff7327aa3","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-41-2-108","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-41-2-110"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
