Code Ann. § 45-18-117","heading":"Civil penalties","body":"If, after notice and an opportunity for a hearing, the commissioner finds that a person has violated this chapter or a rule adopted under this chapter, the commissioner may, in addition to all other powers conferred in this chapter:\n(1) Order the person to cease and desist violating the chapter or its rules and require the refund of any fees collected by the person in violation of this chapter; and\n(2) Order the person to pay to the commissioner a civil penalty in an amount specified by the commissioner, not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each violation or, in the case of a continuing violation, one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each day that the violation continues.","path":["TN Code","Title 45","Chapter 18"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"f3d7481c96944cae975d4da0ee74b5cb448f72ba87d2e2f2f5fc7b341645ad49","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-45-18-116","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-45-18-118"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
