Code Ann. § 47-25-1604","heading":"Offenses","body":"It is an offense for any new and unused property merchant required to maintain receipts under this part to knowingly:\n(1) Falsify, obliterate or destroy such receipts;\n(2) Refuse or fail, upon the request of a law enforcement officer, to make such receipts available for inspection within a period of time which is reasonable under the individual circumstances surrounding such request; provided, that nothing contained within this section shall be construed to require the new and unused property merchant to possess such receipt on or about the merchant's person without reasonable notice;\n(3) Fail to maintain the receipts required by this part for at least two (2) years; or\n(4) Present credentials pursuant to the requirements of this section which are false, fraudulent, forged, fraudulently obtained or the nature of which is misrepresented.","path":["TN Code","Title 47","Chapter 25"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"a0dea0d9df700e7f097aa846c3ffb3b7b4b32659860c64c5078deffe7efd886d","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-47-25-1603","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-47-25-1605"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
