Code Ann. § 48-101-902","heading":"Part definitions","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Bylaws\" means the code or codes of rules, other than the charter, adopted pursuant to chapters 51-68 of this title for the regulation or management of the affairs of the corporation irrespective of the name or names by which such rules are designated;\n(2) \"Corporation\" means a public benefit or mutual benefit corporation which is not a foreign corporation, incorporated under or subject to chapters 51-68 of this title, and is recognized as exempt under § 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code ( 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3) ), or any successor section;\n(3) \"Foreign corporation\" means a nonprofit corporation incorporated under a law other than the law of this state, which would be a nonprofit corporation if formed under the laws of this state;\n(4) \"Mutual benefit corporation\" means a domestic corporation which becomes by operation of law a mutual benefit corporation pursuant to § 48-68-104 or is formed as a mutual benefit corporation pursuant to chapter 52 of this title; and\n(5) \"Public benefit corporation\" means a domestic corporation which becomes by operation of law a public benefit corporation pursuant to § 48-68-104 or is formed as a public benefit corporation pursuant to chapter 52 of this title.","path":["TN Code","Title 48","Chapter 101"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"e3a3077a407c96c569491b260a8397d9bc1fc2d01705851da706b355b29d99f1","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-48-101-901","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-48-101-903"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
