Code Ann. § 48-248-102","heading":"Chapter definitions","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Disqualified person\" means an individual or entity that for any reason is or becomes ineligible under this chapter to be a member of a PLLC;\n(2) \"Domestic professional LLC\" means a professional LLC formed under chapters 201-248 of this title;\n(3) \"Foreign professional LLC\" means a foreign LLC formed for the purpose of rendering professional services under a law other than the law of this state;\n(4) \"Law\" includes rules promulgated in accordance with § 48-248-603 ;\n(5) \"Licensing authority\" means the officer, board, agency, court or other authority in this state empowered to license or otherwise authorize the rendition of a professional service;\n(6) \"Professional LLC\" or \"PLLC\" means an LLC, other than a foreign professional LLC, which has elected to become subject to this chapter;\n(7) \"Professional service\" means a service that may be lawfully rendered only by a person licensed or otherwise authorized by a licensing authority in this state to render the service and that may not be lawfully rendered by a corporation under the Tennessee Business Corporation Act, compiled in chapters 11-27 of this title or by an LLC under chapters 201-248 of this title; and\n(8) \"Qualified person\" means an individual, general partnership, professional corporation, professional association or PLLC that is eligible under § 48-248-401 to be a member of a PLLC.","path":["TN Code","Title 48","Chapter 248"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"cf482e90f466ffd6e67383f841b1f1b5f42e9bb2e5b40e38a43a03c216469340","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-48-248-101","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-48-248-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
