Code Ann. § 49-1-223","heading":"Asthma - Development of comprehensive state plan - Report","body":"The department of health, in consultation with the department of education and the bureau of TennCare, shall develop a comprehensive state plan to reduce the burden of asthma on school children in this state. The comprehensive plan shall, at a minimum:\n(1) Promote the development of school asthma action plans between LEAs and local health agencies. School asthma action plans shall include emergency protocols for medical emergencies due to asthma complications;\n(2) Encourage schools to have individual asthma action plans for students with asthma;\n(3) Encourage in-service training for teachers, and encourage athletic coaches and athletes to participate in the American Lung Association's asthma treatment training;\n(4) Encourage the development of education for local boards of education and the public concerning self-administration of asthma medications; and\n(5) Promote procedures to reduce exposure to smoke, allergens and other irritants in school buildings, on school grounds and at school events.","path":["TN Code","Title 49","Chapter 1"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"01c9caa76e272b2ed83214427418526ea604b11897b6959bb13b07b8b00621e3","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-49-1-222","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-49-1-224"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
