Code Ann. § 49-17-102","heading":"Chapter definitions","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Council\" means the twelve-member energy efficient schools council created by this chapter;\n(2) \"Energy audit\" means any professional energy audit used to determine the energy efficiency of a structure that is performed by an energy auditor;\n(3) \"Energy auditor\" means any person approved to perform professional energy audits;\n(4) \"Payback period\" means the time within which the cost savings realized by incorporating energy efficient technologies equals the initial cost of the technology employed;\n(5) \"Qualifying capital outlay project\" means any project for new or existing kindergarten through grade twelve (K-12) education facilities that satisfy the energy efficient schools council guidelines for improving energy efficiency as well as comply with the requirements of the Constitution of Tennessee, Article XI, § 5; and\n(6) \"Sustainable building design\" means designing facilities using a strategy that takes into account approaches that benefit the environment and quality of life of a community.","path":["TN Code","Title 49","Chapter 17"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"372b26f6e0d0d021e8f69a1caaf11d9c953bdf2f9b5263089a9c02cffb1dc8ef","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-49-17-101","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-49-17-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
