Code Ann. § 49-8-204","heading":"Code of ethics - Material violation - Hearing - Vacancy","body":"(a) The board of regents and each state university board shall establish and adopt a code of ethics that shall apply to and govern the conduct of all appointed members of each board.\n(b) Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of its membership, the board of regents and each state university board may remove any appointed member of the respective board for a material violation of the code of ethics.\n(c) A board vote to remove one (1) of its members shall only be taken after the accused member has been afforded a due process contested case hearing in accordance with the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act, compiled in title 4, chapter 5, and a finding has been made that the member did violate the board's code of ethics.\n(d) If a member is removed in accordance with this section, the position shall be considered vacant and the vacancy shall be filled as provided by law.","path":["TN Code","Title 49","Chapter 8"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"d43b7c510a833ebed22b2c8b0378859bbf8a7f0b67cf50492fc7710a5539d231","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-49-8-203","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-49-8-205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
