Code Ann. § 52-5-201","heading":"Part definitions","body":"As used in this part, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Family\" means a unit that consists of either a person with a severe or developmental disability and the parent, relative, or other caregiver who resides in the same household or a person with a severe or developmental disability who lives alone without such support;\n(2) \"Family support\" means goods and services needed by families to care for their family members with a severe or developmental disability and to enjoy a quality of life comparable to other community members;\n(3) \"Family support program\" means a coordinated system of family support services administered by the department directly or through contracts;\n(4) \"Severe disability\" means a disability that is functionally similar to a developmental disability but occurred after the person was twenty-two (22) years of age; and\n(5) \"State family support council\" and \"council\" mean the council established by the department under § 52-5-208 to carry out the responsibilities specified in this part.","path":["TN Code","Title 52","Chapter 5"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"d228865b6eef471d7798d436e2341360ebda438933c9b22a6d78a73f4fc7c580","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-52-5-109","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-52-5-202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
