Code Ann. § 55-8-172","heading":"Traffic laws apply to persons riding bicycles - Penalty","body":"(a) Every person riding a bicycle or electric bicycle, as defined in § 55-8-301 , upon a roadway is granted all of the rights and is subject to all of the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle by this chapter and chapter 10, parts 1-5 of this title, except as to those provisions of this chapter and chapter 10, parts 1-5 of this title that by their nature can have no application.\n(b) Every person riding a bicycle or electric bicycle, as defined in § 55-8-301 , is subject to the special regulations in §§ 55-8-171 - 55-8-177 applicable to bicycles or electric bicycles.\n(c) Every person riding an electric bicycle, as defined in § 55-8-301 , is subject to the special regulations in part 3 of this chapter applicable to electric bicycles.\n(d) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor.","path":["TN Code","Title 55","Chapter 8"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"03e8f32351f3cb4a9c0742fbf9a3e1a31ef8a885049a9692df610ead3cf0b92b","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-55-8-171","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-55-8-173"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
