Code Ann. § 56-1-1001","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Health benefit plan\" means a policy, contract, certificate, or agreement entered into, offered by, or issued by an insurer to provide, deliver, arrange for, pay for, or reimburse any of the costs of healthcare services, including a vision or dental benefit plan and a nonprofit dental service plan, as defined in § 56-30-102 ; and\n(2) \"Plan sponsor\" means an insured person, other than a regulated entity, who establishes, adopts, or maintains a health benefit plan that covers residents of this state, including a plan established, adopted, or maintained by an employer or jointly by an employer and one (1) or more employee organizations, an association, a committee, a joint board of trustees, or any similar group of representatives who establish, adopt, or maintain a plan.","path":["TN Code","Title 56","Chapter 1"],"source_url":"https://oss-data-us.vaquill.ai/v2026.08/us_tn_statutes.parquet","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:26Z","sha256":"eee48eb6b3849c3479acfeea0bf60e80dae94f2a3db56f5caeef4a2f2983dc91","source_id":"us-tn","stale":false,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-56-19-125","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-56-1-1002"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
