Code Ann. § 68-1-2203","heading":"Functions.","body":"The office of minority health is designated for the following purposes:\n(1) To assist the commissioner in the assessment of the health needs of the minority populations within the state;\n(2) To recommend to the commissioner methods and programs that are sensitive and relevant to the unique linguistic, cultural and ethnic characteristics of minority populations;\n(3) To provide consultation, technical assistance, training, and reference materials regarding health issues of minorities to service providers, organizations and other agencies;\n(4) To promote awareness of minority health concerns and encourage, promote and aid in the establishment of services to address those concerns;\n(5) To disseminate information on available minority services;\n(6) To provide adequate and effective opportunities for minorities to express their views on departmental policy development and program implementation;\n(7) To coordinate with other agencies providing services to minority populations in an effort to make available services designed to meet the needs of minority residents;\n(8) To develop local coalitions throughout the state that provide local networks of health organizations and associated agencies, and act as a community focus for minority health related programs; and\n(9) To seek funding from various entities or sources to carry out or further the purposes of this part.","path":["Title 68 Health, Safety and Environmental Protection","Chapter 1 Department of Health","Part 22 Office of Minority Health Act of 2004"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.tn.tca/release76.2021.05.21/gov.tn.tca.title.68.odt","current_through":"2021-05-21","vintage":"Tennessee Code Release 76 (2021-05), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:57:36Z","sha256":"8400b54ecf8f0bf70ed04665632eb37446e9539368fb53b605edfe8c545b41e5","source_id":"us-tn","stale":true,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-1-2202","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-1-2204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
