Code Ann. § 68-117-107","heading":"Required display of warning sign.","body":"(a) Each tanning facility shall prominently post, in a location always plainly visible to the public, a sign no smaller than twenty-four inches by thirty-six inches (24\" x 36\") that shall be readily legible to the average person to ensure that it is likely to be read by a customer wishing to use a tanning bed.\n(b) Each sign shall contain the following language:\nWARNING: ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION\nImproper or repeated exposure to ultraviolet radiation may cause damage to skin including premature aging and skin cancer.\nFailure to use protective eyewear may result in severe burns or permanent injury to the eyes.\nMedications or cosmetics may increase sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation.\nConsult a physician if you are using medications.\nPregnancy or use of estrogen containing medications such as premarin or oral contraceptives may result in skin discoloration when exposed to ultraviolet radiation.\nAn individual with a personal or family history of melanoma should avoid exposure to ultraviolet radiation.\nAn individual with skin that tends to burn easily, freckles, or never tans should avoid exposure to tanning devices.\nAn individual with a personal history of skin cancer or abnormal moles should avoid exposure to tanning devices.\nImproper use of a tanning device contrary to the recommendations of the manufacturer may be harmful to the user and shall not be allowed.\nIF YOU DO NOT TAN IN THE SUN, YOU ARE UNLIKELY TO TAN FROM USE OF THIS DEVICE.","path":["Title 68 Health, Safety and Environmental Protection","Chapter 117 Tanning Facility Control Act of 1990"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.tn.tca/release76.2021.05.21/gov.tn.tca.title.68.odt","current_through":"2021-05-21","vintage":"Tennessee Code Release 76 (2021-05), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:57:36Z","sha256":"b2a362777fc959fe8932fe3aef4b99279703b8aed5296efa61be54931f8240ea","source_id":"us-tn","stale":true,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-117-106","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-120-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
