Code Ann. § 68-140-402","heading":"Part definitions.","body":"As used in this part, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) “AED” or “defibrillator” means an automated external defibrillator; and\n(2) “Automated external defibrillator (AED)” means a medical device heart monitor and defibrillator that:\n(A) Has received approval of its premarket notification, filed pursuant to 21 U.S.C. § 360(R), from the United States food and drug administration;\n(B) Is capable of recognizing the presence or absence of ventricular fibrillation or rapid ventricular tachycardia, and is capable of determining, without intervention by an operator, whether defibrillation should be performed; and\n(C) Upon determining that defibrillation should be performed, automatically charges and requests delivery of an electrical impulse to an individual’s heart.","path":["Title 68 Health, Safety and Environmental Protection","Chapter 140 Emergency Services","Part 4 Automated External Defibrillators"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.tn.tca/release76.2021.05.21/gov.tn.tca.title.68.odt","current_through":"2021-05-21","vintage":"Tennessee Code Release 76 (2021-05), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:57:36Z","sha256":"ccf8adc70c4d69a02860dfbf862adc9e11b7fe8b84b904df0d0cb17e6f873edd","source_id":"us-tn","stale":true,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-140-401","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-140-403"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
