Code Ann. § 68-3-307","heading":"Infants of unknown parentage — Foundling registration.","body":"(a) Whoever assumes the custody of a live-born infant of unknown parentage shall report on a form and in a manner prescribed by the state registrar within ten (10) days to the office of vital records the following information:\n(1) The date and place of finding;\n(2) Sex, color or race, and approximate birth date of the child;\n(3) Name and address of the person or institution with whom the child has been placed for care;\n(4) Name given to the child by the custodian of the child; and\n(5) Other data required by the state registrar.\n(b) The place where the child was found shall be entered as the place of birth.\n(c) A report registered under this section shall constitute the certificate of birth for the child.\n(d) If the child is subsequently identified and a certificate of birth is found or obtained, the report registered under this section shall not be subject to inspection, except upon order of a court of competent jurisdiction or as provided by regulation.","path":["Title 68 Health, Safety and Environmental Protection","Chapter 3 Vital Records Act of 1977","Part 3 Births"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.tn.tca/release76.2021.05.21/gov.tn.tca.title.68.odt","current_through":"2021-05-21","vintage":"Tennessee Code Release 76 (2021-05), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:57:36Z","sha256":"81f94bd1ac10bd8cd143ffb9db82b6812e799fd0c80164052a33f4a52161e290","source_id":"us-tn","stale":true,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-3-306","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-3-308"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
