Code Ann. § 68-30-112","heading":"Search and notification.","body":"(a) The following persons shall make a reasonable search of an individual who the person reasonably believes is dead or near death for a document of gift or other information identifying the individual as a donor or as an individual who made a refusal:\n(1) A law enforcement officer, firefighter, paramedic, or other emergency rescuer finding the individual; and\n(2) If no other source of the information is immediately available, a hospital, as soon as practical after the individual's arrival at the hospital.\n(b) If a document of gift or a refusal to make an anatomical gift is located by the search required by subdivision (a)(1) and the individual or deceased individual to whom it relates is taken to a hospital, the person responsible for conducting the search shall send the document of gift or refusal to the hospital.\n(c) A person is not subject to criminal or civil liability for failing to discharge the duties imposed by this section, but may be subject to administrative sanctions.","path":["Title 68 Health, Safety and Environmental Protection","Chapter 30 Anatomical Gifts","Part 1 Revised Uniform Anatomical Gift Act"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.tn.tca/release76.2021.05.21/gov.tn.tca.title.68.odt","current_through":"2021-05-21","vintage":"Tennessee Code Release 76 (2021-05), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:57:36Z","sha256":"09c9ab055ff45e25ac85c79a5eeebdf9da603e6c8b4701df858691fa07a901a5","source_id":"us-tn","stale":true,"prev":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-30-111","next":"us-tn/tenn.-code-ann.-68-30-113"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
