Agriculture Code § 60.051","heading":"GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES.","body":"(a) A district has the powers and duties that are prescribed by this chapter and that are necessary or desirable to carry out a power or duty expressly or implicitly granted to the district under this chapter.\n(b) A district may own or implement more than one project under this chapter.\n(c) A district may merge with another district or districts provided that the board of each district agrees to the merger.\n(d) A district may perform acts necessary to carry out the purposes of this chapter.\n(e) A district may not impose an ad valorem tax.\n(f) A district may make payments in lieu of taxes to a school district or county in the manner provided by Sections 60.022(9) and (10).\n(g) To the extent consistent with the purposes of this chapter, a district may enter into an installment purchase contract to acquire goods or services for the district.\nAdded by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1393, Sec. 1, eff.
