Business \u0026 Commerce Code § 554.002","heading":"COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP.","body":"(a) The council is composed of seven members as follows:\n(1) three members of the public appointed by the governor;\n(2) two members of the public appointed by the lieutenant governor; and\n(3) two members of the public appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.\n(b) Members of the council serve staggered four-year terms, with the terms of three or four members expiring every two years.\n(c) The governor shall appoint a chair from among the members, and the council shall elect a vice chair from its membership.\n(d) The council may establish an advisory board composed of individuals from the public who possess expertise directly related to the council's functions, including technical, ethical, regulatory, and other relevant areas.\nAdded by Acts 2025, 89th Leg., R.S., Ch. 1174 (H.B. 149), Sec. 4, eff.
