Business \u0026 Commerce Code § 72.001","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this subchapter:\n(1) \"Business record\" means letters, words, sounds, or numbers, or the equivalent of letters, words, sounds, or numbers, recorded in the operation of a business by:\n(A) handwriting;\n(B) typewriting;\n(C) printing;\n(D) photostat;\n(E) photograph;\n(F) magnetic impulse;\n(G) mechanical or electronic recording;\n(H) digitized optical image; or\n(I) another form of data compilation.\n(2) \"Personal identifying information\" means an individual's first name or initial and last name in combination with one or more of the following:\n(A) date of birth;\n(B) social security number or other government-issued identification number;\n(C) mother's maiden name;\n(D) unique biometric data, including the individual's fingerprint, voice data, or retina or iris image;\n(E) unique electronic identification number, address, or routing code;\n(F) telecommunication access device as defined by Section 32.51, Penal Code, including debit or credit card information; or\n(G) financial institution account number or any other financial information.\n(3) \"Reproduction\" means a counterpart of an original business record produced by:\n(A) production from the same impression or the same matrix as the original;\n(B) photography, including an enlargement or miniature;\n(C) mechanical or electronic rerecording;\n(D) chemical reproduction;\n(E) digitized optical imaging; or\n(F) another technique that accurately reproduces the original.\nAdded by Acts 2007, 80th Leg., R.S., Ch. 885 (H.B. 2278), Sec. 2.01, eff.
