Education Code § 12.052","heading":"AUTHORIZATION.","body":"(a) In accordance with this subchapter, the board of trustees of a school district or the governing body of a home-rule school district shall grant or deny, through a public vote of the board of trustees or governing body, a charter to parents and teachers for a campus or a program on a campus if the board is presented with a petition signed by:\n(1) the parents of a majority of the students at that school campus; and\n(2) a majority of the classroom teachers at that school campus.\n(b) For purposes of Subsection (a)(1), the signature of only one parent of a student is required.\n(c) The board of trustees may not arbitrarily deny a charter under this section.\nAdded by Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 260, Sec. 1, eff.
