Education Code § 29.301","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this subchapter:\n(1) \"Admission, review, and dismissal committee\" means the committee required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 U.S.C. Section 1400 et seq.) for any student needing special education.\n(2) \"American Sign Language\" means a complete, visual, and manual language with its own grammar and syntax.\n(3) \"English\" includes writing, reading, speech, speech reading, cued speech, and any English-based manual-visual method of communication.\n(4) \"Unique communication mode\" or \"appropriate language mode\" includes English and American Sign Language.\nAdded by Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 260, Sec. 1, eff.
