Education Code § 87.841","heading":"TEXAS A\u0026M UNIVERSITY--SAN ANTONIO.","body":"(a) Texas A\u0026M University--San Antonio is a general academic teaching institution located in Bexar County. The university is a component institution of The Texas A\u0026M University System and is under the management and control of the board of regents of The Texas A\u0026M University System.\n(b) The board may prescribe courses leading to such customary degrees as are offered at leading American universities and may award those degrees. Those degrees may include baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees in all fields of study, including professional degrees. No department, school, or degree program may be instituted except with the prior approval of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.\n(c) The board also has the same powers and duties concerning Texas A\u0026M University--San Antonio as are conferred on the board by statute concerning Texas A\u0026M University.\nText of subsection effective until May 23, 2009, but only if a specific appropriation is provided as described by Acts 2009, 81st Leg., R.S., Ch. 129, Sec. 4, which states: This Act does not make an appropriation. This Act takes effect only if a specific appropriation for the implementation of the Act is provided in a general appropriations act of the 81st Legislature.\n(d) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, Texas A\u0026M University--San Antonio may not operate as a general academic teaching institution until the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board certifies that enrollment at the Texas A\u0026M University--Kingsville System Center--San Antonio has reached an enrollment equivalent of:\n(1) 1,000 full-time students for one semester if the legislature authorizes revenue bonds to be issued to finance educational and related facilities for the institution, and the bonds are issued for that purpose; or\n(2) 2,500 full-time students for one semester if the conditions specified by Subdivision (1) are not satisfied.\nText of subsection effective on May 23, 2009, but only if a specific appropriation is provided as described by Acts 2009, 81st Leg., R.S., Ch. 129, Sec. 4, which states: This Act does not make an appropriation.
