Election Code § 253.176","heading":"CIVIL PENALTY.","body":"(a) The commission may impose a civil penalty against a person as provided by this subchapter only after a formal hearing as provided by Subchapter E, Chapter 571, Government Code.\n(b) The commission shall base the amount of the penalty on:\n(1) the seriousness of the violation;\n(2) the history of previous violations;\n(3) the amount necessary to deter future violations; and\n(4) any other matter that justice may require.\n(c) Repealed by Acts 2019, 86th Leg., R.S., Ch. 384 (H.B. 3233), Sec. 17(7), eff.
