Family Code § 262.008","heading":"ABANDONED CHILDREN.","body":"(a) An authorized representative of the Department of Family and Protective Services may assume the care, control, and custody of a child:\n(1) who is abandoned without identification or a means for identifying the child; and\n(2) whose identity cannot be ascertained by the exercise of reasonable diligence.\n(b) The department shall immediately file a suit to terminate the parent-child relationship of a child under Subsection (a).\n(c) Repealed by Acts 2015, 84th Leg., R.S., Ch. 1, Sec. 1.203(5), eff.
