Family Code § 264.751","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this subchapter:\n(1) \"Designated caregiver\" means an individual who has a longstanding and significant relationship with a child or the family of a child for whom the department has been appointed managing conservator and who:\n(A) is appointed to provide substitute care for the child, but is not verified by a licensed child-placing agency to operate an agency foster home under Chapter 42, Human Resources Code; or\n(B) is subsequently appointed permanent managing conservator of the child after providing the care described by Paragraph (A).\n(2) \"Relative\" means a person related to a child by consanguinity as determined under Section 573.022, Government Code.\n(3) \"Relative caregiver\" means a relative who:\n(A) provides substitute care for a child for whom the department has been appointed managing conservator, but who is not verified by a licensed child-placing agency to operate an agency foster home under Chapter 42, Human Resources Code; or\n(B) is subsequently appointed permanent managing conservator of the child after providing the care described by Paragraph (A).\nAdded by Acts 2005, 79th Leg., Ch. 268 (S.B. 6), Sec. 1.62((a)), eff.
