Government Code § 25.0033","heading":"QUALIFICATIONS OF JUDGE.","body":"The judge of a statutory probate court must:\n(1) be at least 25 years of age;\n(2) be a United States citizen and have resided in the county for at least two years before election or appointment; and\n(3) be a licensed attorney in this state who has practiced law or served as a judge of a court in this state, or both combined, for the five years preceding election or appointment, unless otherwise provided for by law.\nAdded by Acts 2011, 82nd Leg., 1st C.S., Ch. 3 (H.B. 79), Sec. 4.10(a), eff.
