Government Code § 301.006","heading":"SELECTION OF OFFICERS.","body":"(a) Immediately after election of the speaker of the house of representatives under Section 302.001, the speaker shall take the chair.\n(b) After the speaker takes the chair, the house of representatives shall choose necessary officers and the speaker shall administer the official oath to them.\n(c) After the senators-elect have taken the official oath, the senate shall choose necessary officers, and the lieutenant governor or an officer authorized by law to administer oaths shall administer the official oath to those officers.\nActs 1985, 69th Leg., ch. 479, Sec. 1, eff.
