Government Code § 411.005","heading":"DIRECTOR, DEPUTY DIRECTORS, AND ASSISTANT DIRECTORS.","body":"(a) The commission shall appoint a citizen of the United States as public safety director. The director serves until removed by the commission.\n(b) The director may appoint, with the advice and consent of the commission, deputy directors and assistant directors who shall perform the duties that the director designates. Deputy directors and assistant directors serve until removed by the director.\n(c) The commission shall select the director, and the director shall select deputy directors and assistant directors, on the basis of the person's training, experience, and qualifications for the position. The director, deputy directors, and assistant directors are entitled to annual salaries as provided by the legislature.\nActs 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 147, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1987.
