Government Code § 487.251","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this subchapter:\n(1) \"Medically underserved area\" means an area designated by the United States secretary of health and human services as having:\n(A) a shortage of personal health services or a population group that has such a shortage as provided by 42 U.S.C. Section 300e-1(7); or\n(B) a health professional shortage as provided by 42 U.S.C. Section 254e(a)(1).\n(2) \"Physician\" means a resident physician who is enrolled in an accredited residency training program in this state in the specialty of:\n(A) family practice;\n(B) general internal medicine;\n(C) general pediatric medicine; or\n(D) general obstetrics and gynecology.\nAdded by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1424, Sec. 1, eff.
