Government Code § 487.551","heading":"DEFINITIONS.","body":"In this subchapter:\n(1) \"Health professional\" means a person other than a physician who holds a license, certificate, registration, permit, or other form of authorization required by law or a state agency rule that must be obtained by an individual to practice in a health care profession.\n(2) \"Medically underserved community\" means a community that:\n(A) is located in a county with a population of 50,000 or less;\n(B) has been designated under state or federal law as:\n(i) a health professional shortage area; or\n(ii) a medically underserved area; or\n(C) has been designated as a medically underserved community by the department.\nAdded by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 435, Sec. 2, eff.
